Review of Skyward Flight

Author: Brandon Sanderson
Personal Rating: 12+

What It's About

Skyward Flight is a continuation of the Skyward series, which follows Spensa Nightshade on her voyages across the universe. This book in particular shows the readers what happened in the absence of Spensa in the original Skyward series as she explored. The story follows Jorgen, Freyja (FM), and Alanik as they explore the planets ReDawn, Evershore, and Outreach with hyperspace technology. The book goes from FM's perspective to Alanik's and then finally to Jorgen's.

What I Liked

I like that the book is split up into three different sections; one for the perspective of Freyja Marten (FM), Alanik, and Jorgen Weight. Their narratives on what happens are each special in their own way, especially since Alanik is an alien species from an entirely different planet, which provides a unique insight on the customs of humans from her eyes. The taynix species are also talked about more, and explained in depth, which was a nice new feature to the book series.

What I Disliked

I disliked very, very little about this book- the one thing I disliked was that there isn't more!

Conclusion

Skyward Flight is a retelling of what happened when Spensa was gone from Detritus in the Skyward  series, and follows three perspectives very uniquely and spectacularly!
